    I own that exact router template guide you have shown in this video. I just want to let you know that you are making a mistake in its use. Whenever you need to use that template or any other template for that matter you need to start cutting on the long grain and go around to the end grain. You should not continue on the end grain and come across to the other long grain. That will increase the chance of grain tear out. You need to flip your work piece upside down, reinstall the template and now you will be cutting in the right direction. Think of a square piece of wood that you are using that aluminum corner round jig to soften the corners. You can only route opposite corners on one face and then after you flip the project over you can now do the remaining corners. I hope that helps.

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings День тому

      That is some great advice. This blade cut across the grain in both directions without any tear out. I was testing it to see how well it would work. I knew if it did tear out, I had plenty of room to cut it down and redo it.

    Great review, just what I needed. Ended up going with the ridgid because of the shadow light. With proper form and going slow on cuts, deflection can be minimized. Additionally, 90% of the cuts I make are not extended and in the fixed position from which there is considerably less deflection. Besides if precision is critical I’ll probably take it to the cross cut sled on my table saw. Price helped too, snagged the ridgid 12” for $399 at Home Depot

      @@ShopRamblings I’m not sure what a timed belt is. Like I said, it’s still in the box. Thank you for your response. I’ll figure it out, have a lot to learn.

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings 2 дні тому

      @hawkenman.549 Luckily, you will never have to figure it out. On the original 36-725, the belt had around 5 groves that ran horizontal around the belt. Like a serpentine belt on a car. Over time, the belt could wear and start to slip. This has caused hundreds of people problems trying to figure out why their saw was losing power. In the new model 36-725t2, the belt has vertical groves that match with groves on the pulleys. This acts like teeth in a gear. It is the type of belt they use on cars to keep the cam in time with the crank because it can't slip. The blade doesn't need to be kept in time with the motor, but it fixes the main issue this saw had. It is still the best table saw for under $1000. That is why it has been sold for over a decade with only one new version. If you are new to woodworking, you are off to a good start. This saw will help keep you from the frustration many new woodworkers have trying to get straight accurate cuts on a jobsite saw.

    That's fine and all, and thanks for the upload, but... The problem you had with the OS not wanting you to use the MKS software, is the same but worse for Mac OS. There are ways around that problem, that involve entering some 'magic' words into the Mac Terminal. There are also some issues with recognizing ports with the Mac. The extension that comes from Elegoo should NOT be used and causes problems. Once installed there are some magic words to remove that too. The Mac OS has the proper (CH340) software already integrated into it. Sadly, that still eaves a few issues. Some have suggested that you need to push the middle reset button on the display board. You don't . Then there is more item to contend with. The inability to detect the COM (PC) or USB port with the MKS download tool. That is either the board being defective or more likely a bad USB C cable. Apparently some are power only and don't have all their wires. Yes, I know. This is ridiculous, but it is what it is. @ShopRamblings has done a good job of providing a walkthrough of the process. But be warned! This is still shark infested waters! lol. And if you ask me for the magic words, I'll copy paste them here. Otherwise I will assume everyone else had success with this! Now back to modding the Phecda for limit switches..... No idea how any laser comes without this basic and needed feature🤔

      The question is, why were you having trouble getting 90⁰ cut. I was able to make 90⁰ cuts with both saws. The Bosch is easier to get 90⁰. Is the issue the saw needs to be squared where it makes the same cut every time but is not 90⁰ or does it cut different angles?

    Thank you for this video. I have had the same experience on Temu, which made me feel like I had been seriously ripped off by third party vendors on Amazon. When I did my comparisons, most of the products were IDENTICAL! The others were only different because one had a brand name stamped on them. However, all were marked made in China!!! In fact, it made me wonder if that brand had their items manufactured by that same factory, but paid the factory to apply the logo before it was shipped. Some of the markups on Amazon were as much as 400%, which told me where all of the negative remarks about Temu are coming from-all of those Amazon vendors that have been exposed!!!

      Many factories will make the same product and put several different brand names on it. The more people who want to a profit off the same item, the more you have to pay.

    Hongdui have taken an idea and done it better. That's how progress is made. Somebody invents a steam engine, an internal combustion engine, a toaster, whatever, somebody else comes along and builds a better one. It was ever thus. In this case the guides are a safety feature and should be open source. I believe Saw Stop have done this with their technology, at least outside the US.

    Another great informational video! Thanks. I have been pondering these for some time. The looked very useful but as with many shop tools you have stuff that while it doesn't do exactly what you want it does the job. After watching the video I decided these are the way to go! Again thanks a ton for the info!

    I was never showed either lol, to me dog holes are the way, just more versatile..having said that I'm in the process of designing my new bench for dog holes, dint know about the green handles of micro jig, I got the yellow and its for a tapering jig on table saw...by the way i really like those small squares you featured, thanks for that my man, totally accurate with cool features...

      I have a tapering jig. I also have a 3', 5', and 8' straighting jigs. They are much easier than a jointer. I am going to rebuild my table top or just fill in the groves with epoxy. Dogs on 4 in centers are definitely the way to go.

    You need to make an adjustable swing arm to hold your sander cord and hose above the bench top. No more catching on the edges

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings 20 днів тому

      I have thought of that but I also have the vacuum hose to deal with.

      @@ShopRamblings connect hose to arm too. I have a tie wrap that is loose enough to loop over my arm.

      @@ShopRamblings I agree with you. Dovetails belong on jigs if used at all. Personally I prefer t-tracks or miter tracks on tapering jigs etc. I'd redo the bench top and get rid of them.

    A new improved version just came out 2 months, evaluated by Dennis, from Hooked On Wood, ua-cam.com/video/rv0886uEfn8/v-deo.htmlsi=i2tOO6kOm5aVyXtb. Those problems were resolved and new version works like a charm.

    Doesn’t a lot of Amazon products come from China also?
